No on 7, Yes on 11

Yvonne DeLeon , President
Through our
Chamber membership in the Inland Empire Legislative Alliance, we have been
studying the current slew of propositions. Since we are a business advocacy
organization we try to stick to legislative issues that directly affect
business. It would be safe to say that all legislation affects business, and
this would be true, but our goal is to be as business specific as possible.
Because of the current fiscal catastrophe in California we have decided not
to take a position on any bonds that we feel will bring further debt to our
State. For this reason we have no recommendations for you on Propositions
1A, 3, 10 and 12.
Proposition 7 is a Renewable Energy Generation initiative that may sound
good for the environment but is neither feasible or practical. It will only
serve to increase energy costs while decreasing research and development by
small independent companies. We urge a NO vote.
Proposition 11 is a redistricting initiative that will finally bring some
sanity to legislative boundaries that right now have no cohesiveness and are
only good for one thing: keeping incumbents and specific parties in office.
This proposition will take the responsibility away from the legislature,
where there is a huge conflict of interest, and place it with an independent
commission. Vote YES to bring fairness back to politics and make your vote
worthwhile.
As always I continue to be impressed with the quality of debate that takes
place regarding our legislative issues, but in the end we must always keep
in mind that we are here to represent the interests of business.
Please register and plan to vote.
