Message From the Ambassador Chairperson

Sue Stedman, Jafra Cosmetics
The Montclair Ambassadors met on Thursday, May 5th. We thank Tenice Johnson for sponsoring lunch. Ann Marie Taylor and Yvonne Ramos of Montclair Hospital Medical Center came as prospective ambassadors to our meeting and are interested in joining the team. Michelle Neale from Nationwide Insurance also joined the meeting and is also looking to become an Ambassador. We welcome the new additions and encourage anyone interested in becoming and Ambassador to contact me or the Chamber office.
At the May meeting we gave our reports and accepted new assignments on plaques and 6th month anniversary items. The May events were not to be missed, including the Taste of Dolce Anniversary and the Police Recognition Luncheon, which Ambassadors helped in the check in and seating.
The month of June also offers event networking opportunities. On Saturday, June 4th, 2011 the City and Chamber will be hosting its annual Montclair Family Fun Festival at Alma Hofman Park. You will see some of the Ambassadors at the event sharing their businesses with the Community. We will be there to answer any questions you may have about the Ambassador Corp or Chamber. On Thursday, June 9th the Chamber will be hosting its monthly networking breakfast at Romano’s Macaroni Grill here in Montclair. Please mark your calendars. On Wednesday, June 22nd the Chamber will be hosting its annual Installation and Directors Luncheon in recognition of the Ambassadors and Board of Directors to wrap up the Chambers fiscal year. See you there!!

Ambassador of the Month

| Lori Jepson |
As the school year comes to an end and I finish my second year
as a Montclair Chamber Ambassador there is much to reflect on.
Being an ambassador has provided Montclair High School with many
opportunities and benefits. It has provided many positive
working relationships between the MHS Work Experience program
and Chamber Member businesses. For me personally, I have made
new business acquaintances and friends. So how has MHS
benefited…..
Chamber Members have:
• Provided donations during the past three years for our
Peppermints for Performance campaign to give a peppermint to
every student every day of our State Mandated testing. I am
pleased to say that our scores have had a dramatic increase
since we implemented this program.
• The MHS Work Experience Program has been flourishing during
the tough economic times while local chamber businesses have
hosted our Vocational and Exploratory Interns. In addition to
provided employment to many of our students.
• The Virtual Enterprise Class which creates a web based virtual
business has been privileged to have during the past two years
an official ribbon cutting ceremony, with Chamber officials and
members in attendance. Due to the tremendous success this year
they were invited to the Montclair Family Fun Festival to sell
their real products…Duct Tape Wallets. A big shout out to
Darleen and Melina.
• Wells Fargo, The Montclair Planning Commission and PVW also
provided judges for an end of the year Virtual Event held in
Claremont.
• With the Chaffey Districts budget cuts, schools are no longer
allowed to provide food or refreshments to staff. Costco has
come along side and provided coffee for all of our staff
meetings, the Chaffey Federal Credit Union provided a Back to
School luncheon and a farewell breakfast, while the Ambassador
Corp also provided last years Back to School Barbeque assisted
by the Montclair Fire Department and Kiwanis.
Much can happen when you belong to the great Chamber of
Montclair; it provides a wonderful opportunity to network and to
promote your business. Now when I attend a chamber function I
look around a room and think wow, I know a lot of these people.
Being an ambassador provides even more opportunities, we deliver
membership plaques and 6 month gifts; make phone calls to remind
members of chamber events this one to one contact is a great way
to get to build business relationships.
Please know how much I appreciate your support. Thank you, have
a wonderful summer. School resumes on August 9. Hire those
teenagers!
